Thy Fearful Symmetry

Thy Fearful Symmetry

Oil on Canvas

Unframed

61 x 81 cms

2021

The name of this painting obviously comes from William Blake's poem "The Tyger," a great favourite of mine and one which never fails to generate strong emotion in me:

"When the stars threw down their spears

And water'd heaven with their tears:

Did he smile his work to see?

Did he who made the Lamb make thee?

So the stripes evoke a Tyger. One of my favourite of my own paintings.
